Assessment process

After you apply

When we receive your application we will:

  • send you an email acknowledging this
  • assess your application against the criteria set out in the call for applications and application form
  • give you a decision by early October 2024

How your application will be assessed

Your application will be assessed by a panel consisting of Scottish Government officials against 7 criteria. The scores used are 0-4, with 4 being excellent, and 0 a fail. Each criterion has a weight attached to it, up to 5. The score for each criterion will be multiplied by the weight for that criterion, creating an overall score for each criterion. These will be added to create a total score for the application. For example, criterion 1 is weighted at 2. If an application receives a score of 3 for that criterion, the overall score for that criterion will be 6. (2x3=6). For more details see the application form (found in ‘supporting documents’).

The following criteria will be used for assessing applications:

  1. Fair Work First – Applicants need to demonstrate how they meet mandatory Fair Work First criteria to be considered for grant funding. (Weight = 2)
  2. Strategic Fit – Applications need to show how their project fits with and contributes to wider Scottish Government priorities and aims. (Weight = 3)
  3. Evidence of Need and Added Value – Applicants should set out their rationale for why a project is needed, and what additional value it will bring. (Weight = 4)
  4. Activities, Deliverables and Capturing potential impacts – applicants need to set out what activities they will deliver, what deliverables/ outputs will come from that, and any potential impacts, including how they will monitor this. (Weight = 4)
  5. Learning and Dissemination Deliverables – Applications need to include what learning and dissemination materials/ deliverables will be created as a result of the funding, and how this can best be further shared following the Fund. (Weight =5)
