Items and actions

Actions from previous meeting

a021 - discussion and a debrief with [REDACTED] and the MCA  - the certificates are accounted for and will be delivered at handover (action FMPG).

a023 - work remains ongoing - FMPG noted that actions are separated and categorised properly. There is further discussion on OOR vs PR status and prioritisation. A lot of OORs are either closed off or with CMAL for sign-off. Compartment inspections – most remarks identified are snags that are resolved as they’re found and are dealt with internally within departments. However, others that need more planning to resolve are taken away and added to the list. SG queried if any of the 11 OORs identified as not being able to be resolved will impact operational service with CalMac or the build contract. CalMac to revert with assessment of operational impact of any outstanding OORs and impact on handover and warranty closer to handover date. FMPG to present OORs at next week’s meeting to ensure clarity across the working group (action – FMPG / CMAL).

a025 - FMPG have provided CMAL with final list of Spares. This remains ongoing and can be crossed off once transfer of Spares is confirmed - there are no concerns here (action – FMPG).

a026 – warranty process development – new action added to the log. FMPG to arrange/estimate the warranty to submit to SG as an estimated cost. List of OEMs will inform estimate and it is suggested a working group to take this forward. CalMac suggest a more expansive asset management system for them would both inform maintenance and warranty needs. List of OEM and indicative cost to be finalised by FMPG and this is to be shared with CalMac to they can plan long-term maintenance / warranty. An engineer from FMPG may need to be supplied to CalMac to be on-call during and after handover in case any problems arise (potentially for a matter of weeks). This is to be looked at as a separate action point as well (action – FMPG).

Hot topics

LNG bunkering - looking for support for a master and a chief to assist FMPG with bunkering of LNG. This is proving difficult for FMPG so they are looking to CalMac to support/observe with these positions. FMPG will be doing the work and there will be minimal work from CalMac needed but it is a requirement. International Associations of Ports and Harbours requires master and Chief have IGF certificated crew to be there during this process. CalMac require a full and clear breakdown of the expectations of the Master and Chief needed from CalMac before this can be provided. Noted that it is expected this will be fine dependant on the above. CalMac have been involved in operationalisation of LNG at a high level and work for this remains ongoing (action - FMPG will outline scope and responsibility).

Deployment of MCA escape systems - CMAL and FMPG will support the ramp trials. Preference is to do this before delivery, if this is acceptable to everyone. Expected time needed will be approximately 8 hours. FMPG noted it will need to be confirmed that this work will not affect LNG work that will be ongoing so it might do this at same time as builders trials and extend by a day to do this work.

Delivery date - An update to NZET committee with delivery date is due Friday 19 April.

Any other business

CalMac requested that when closer to the service date can they get cross party work on emergency exercises to see who will be responsible for everything.
