Fireworks in Scotland: action plan
To promote the safe and appropriate use of fireworks we will take forward a number of actions with national and local partners.
Footnotes
1. It should be noted that consultation responses are not representative of the wider population, and it is often those with the strongest views on a subject who choose to respond. The findings from the nationally representative opinion poll, which can be generalised to the Scottish population, show a similar picture to the consultation, but with lower proportions of respondents supporting potential changes.
2. FireSkills is a flexible youth engagement programme that provides a unique learning experience for young people. Run from local Fire Stations, courses are tailored to meet requirements of the youngpeople involved, supporting a reduction in service demand and developing core-skills of those involved. In late 2019, SFRS will formally launch its new Youth Volunteer scheme. The weekly scheme will use fire-fighter drills and community safety engagement activities to assist young people to make positive choices as they emerge into adulthood.
