GDP first quarterly estimate 2023 Q3 (July to September)

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) statistics measure the output of the economy in Scotland. The GDP first quarterly estimate is an accredited national statistics publication for Scotland.

  • Scotland’s GDP grew by 0.4% in real terms during the third quarter of 2023. Over the same period, GDP in the UK as a whole remained flat (0.0% growth).
  • Compared to the same quarter last year, Scotland’s GDP grew by 0.4%. Over the same period, the UK as a whole grew by 0.6%.
  • In the third quarter of 2023 services output grew by 0.2%, while production output grew by 1.8% with the increase of 5.1% in electricity output making the largest contribution to the overall result.
