GDP First Quarterly Estimate 2024 Q1 (January to March)

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) statistics measure the output of the economy in Scotland. The GDP first quarterly estimate is an accredited national statistics publication for Scotland.


Output compared to the previous quarter

In 2024 Quarter 1 (January to March), Scotland’s GDP grew by 0.7% in real terms compared to 2023 Quarter 4, following a contraction of 0.5% in Quarter 4.  Over Quarter 1, GDP for the UK as a whole grew by 0.6%.

In 2024 Quarter 1 (January to March), Scotland’s GDP grew by 0.7% in real terms compared to 2023 Quarter 4, following a contraction of 0.5% in Quarter 4.  Over Quarter 1, GDP for the UK as a whole grew by 0.6%.

At the broad sector level in the latest quarter, output in the Services sector grew by 0.5%, output in the Construction sector fell by 0.9%, and output in the Production sector grew by 2.1%.
