Fisheries management measures within Scottish Offshore Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) - Sustainability Appraisal

The Sustainability Appraisal is the overarching document which aims to capture the complexities of the potential socioeconomic and environmental impacts of fisheries management. The Strategic Environmental Assessment and a Socio-Economic Impact Assessment are used the inform the appraisal.

5 Next Steps

The consultation on the proposed fisheries management measures in offshore MPAs within Scottish waters is now open with views and options now invited. The consultation includes questions on this SA as well as the SEA Environmental Report and SEIA.

Please provide any comments on this SA in your responses to the consultation questionnaire, including any comments on general issues or cumulative effects.

Following the consultation period, the responses received will be analysed, and the findings from this analysis will be taken into account in the finalisation of the fisheries management measures for the offshore MPAs.

A Post-Adoption SEA Statement will be prepared, reflecting the findings of the assessment and the views expressed in the consultation, and outlining how the issues raised have been considered.

If you require access to a paper copy then please get in touch so that arrangements can be made for you to view them during office hours.

Please send comments online at https://consult.gov.scot/marine-scotland/fisheries-management-measures-within-offshore-mpas/.
