Reported landings of North Sea mackerel by Scottish 10m and under vessels (licence category AU).
The table below reports the landings of North Sea mackerel by Scottish 10m and under 'pool' vessels in 2024.
Landings are divided by group, based on the port of administration of each vessel - see the Scottish Quota Management Rules for more details. Unless stated, all figures are in tonnes.
Data amended: 19-12-24
Sub-group | Quota allocation | Banked from 2023 | Quota swaps | Adapted quota | Landed | Re-attributed | Uptake | Quota left |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Moray Firth | 400 | 0 | 0 | 400 | 257.7 | 0.0 | 64% | 142.3 |
Orkney | 100 | 0 | 0 | 100 | 12.6 | 0.0 | 13% | 87.4 |
Shetland | 400 | 0 | 0 | 400 | 742.1 | -56.6 | 171% | -285.6 |
South East | 150 | 0 | 0 | 150 | 63.9 | 0.0 | 43% | 86.1 |
Scottish 'pot' | 0 | 116.5 | -30 | 86.5 | 0 | 0.0 | 0% | 86.5 |
TOTAL | 1050 | 116.5 | -30 | 1136.5 | 1076.4 | 1019.8 | 90% | 116.7 |
Several swaps of NS mackerel have been completed. These amounts have been deducted from the "pot". Acquired were stocks in order to extend fisheries (cod and haddock) or to cover minor by-catches (sole and turbot).
Some landings, as permitted by regulation, have been deducted and re-attributed to the '4a flex' stock (and ultimately reported against the western mackerel stock) - see the column labelled "Re-attributed". This has been done to optimise how much quota can be carried forwards in 2025, as the TAC will be cut by 22%.
Fortnightly catch limits can be found by checking the fishing vessel weekly licence variations page and clicking on the most recent weekly entry.
