Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

FOI reference: FOI/17/02042
Date received: 7 September 2017
Date responded: 21 September 2017

Information requested

  • A figure for the amount of money the Scottish Government has given to the Think Positive Student Mental Health Project since the project has been running?

  • A figure for how much money is pledged to this project for the future? And what date that money has been pledged to be given by?

Response

Current grant funding by the Scottish Government for the NUS Think Positive initiative is on a 3 year cycle and is as follows:

2015-16: £36,469
2016-17: £33,647
2017-18: £30,283

According to our records, previous funding to NUS for the initiative was as follows:

2011-12: £27,000
2012-13: £57,313
2013-14: £58,068

No decisions have yet been taken on the potential for future funding but this is something which we would intend to discuss with NUS. Decisions on future budgets beyond this financial year will be subject to Parliamentary approval of the Scottish budget which I understand is due to be announced by the Scottish Government around mid-December.
