Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

FOI reference: FOI/17/01600
Date received: 11 July 2017
Date responded: 8 August 2017

Information requested

If the Scottish Government made any estimate of the cost or benefit of full fiscal autonomy in October 2014 - June 2016 and the date in which that estimate was submitted. I would also ask if civil servants did any work at all on the option of full fiscal autonomy during this period. In addition I would like to ask if the Scottish Government is currently exploring options for further devolution and specifically what powers it is considering.

Response

I enclose a copy of the information you have asked for regarding the costs or benefits of full fiscal autonomy, and work on the options of full fiscal autonomy, in Annex A.

Information on the Scottish Government's position on options for further devolution is available in chapter 4 of the publication Scotland's Place in Europe, released in December 2016.

In addition, on Tuesday 27 June, the First Minister set out Scottish Government plans for the European Union Negotiations and Scotland's Future to the Scottish Parliament. The First Minister's Statement can be read on the Official Report of the Scottish Parliament
