Information requested

A full list of the names of the companies which manufactured every item in the Baby Box, as well as the country where each item was manufactured and the name of the factory where each item was manufactured.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested. However, you may wish to contact APS Group (Scotland) at APS, 21 Tennant Street, Edinburgh, EH6 5NA, who may be able to help you. The reasons why we don't have the information are explained in the Annex to this letter.

The Scottish Government does not have all of the information you have asked for because we appointed APS Group (Scotland) as our management agent for Scotland's Baby Box initiative.

As the Scottish Government's managing agent, APS have appointed a number of supply chain partners to provide a range of goods and services relating to the delivery of the Baby Boxes seeking to ensure that Scotland's Baby Box initiative is delivered in the most cost-effective way. All 'Tier One' suppliers (suppliers directly contracted by APS) are UK based. The Baby Box is manufactured in the UK, the majority of contents are manufactured in the far east. The Scottish Government holds details of APS's Tier One suppliers and have provided you with that information below. We do not have details beyond the Tier One suppliers this information is held by APS as our managing agent .

The contract for Scotland's Baby Box addresses the ethical requirements that the Scottish Government expects from the supply chain and stipulates that production takes account of environmental factors and that workers are treated fairly. The contract includes provision for regular audits to ensure that sub-contractors continue to adhere to the required ethical standards.
