Estimated cost of essential works at Bute House: FOI release

Information requested

The estimated cost of the essential works to be carried out on Bute House announced today; for full details of the damage; whether concerns had ever been raised before concerning the work that is required; the cost of temporary accommodation for the First Minister and the duration of temporary accommodation and for how long the works are expected to take.

Response

The repair work is being coordinated by Historic and Environment Scotland and Scottish Government. Costs will be published on completion of the works.

Changes to the Bute House Drawing Room ceiling were identified as part of routine monitoring during the first half of October. Further investigations into the repair requirements have taken place - the ceiling as a whole has been investigated and will be repaired where required.

A completion date for repairs has not yet been confirmed. Costs of alternative accommodation will be published following completion of the repairs.
