Please can you tell me the number of economists in Scottish Government by grades (G7, G6 and SCS) by gender and BAME? For 2010, 2015 and 2017?
E.g.
SCS: Total number of economists in SCS, Women economists, BAME economists
G6: Total number of economists at G6, Women, BAME
G7: Total number of economists at G7, Women, BAME
I am interested in whether the assessment centres used in Scotland produce better diversity outcomes than those achieved in the rest of the UK.
Please reply in staff numbers rather than percentages if possible.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide the information you have requested because an exemption(s) under section(s) s.38(1)(b) (personal data of a third party) of FOISA applies to that information. The reasons why that exemption(s) applies are explained below.

You should be aware the Scottish Government has not recruited directly for economist staff for those years but has been part of the wider recruitment exercises of the UK Government Economic Service.

An exemption(s) under section(s) s.38(1)(b) of FOISA applies to all of the information you have requested. The reason why that exemption applies is due to the small number of personnel data involved.
This exemption is not subject to the ‘public interest test’, so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
