Cost of increasing Scotland’s public sector pay-bill by 1%: FOI release

You asked for ‘the cost of increasing the whole of Scotland’s public sector pay-bill by 1%’. 

 

The cost of a 1% increase is around £160m, based on 2018-19 data.

In line with the Office for National Statistics (ONS) classifications for the devolved public sector in Scotland, this figure covers the following workforce groups:

NHS

Teachers

Police and Fire Services

Further Education Colleges

Scottish Government, Other Public Bodies, Public Corporations (but excluding Registered Social Landlords)
