The Accountant in Bankruptcy has a statutory duty to supervise trustees administering Protected Trust Deeds (PTDs). At the time of responding to this FOISA request, there are 25,377 live PTDs. For these 25,377 live cases, there are 68 Insolvency Practitioners appointed as trustees, who work for 65 Insolvency firms
- Are you able to supply the number of trust deeds that each firm/practitioner have been involved with
Please see the following table which provides a breakdown of the number of live PTDs, per Insolvency Practitioner, for each Insolvency firm:

- Are you able to supply details of the trust deeds that each firm practitioner has been involved with and what level of detail are you able to supply and what level of information do you hold.’
The Register of Insolvencies (the Register) is the online public register which holds information on individuals who are both bankrupt and subject to a PTD.
The Accountant in Bankruptcy has a statutory duty to maintain this Register. Details of each live insolvency in Scotland is recorded in the Register: https://roi.aib.gov.uk/roi.
You can complete a search of the Register using the name of the trustee and this will generate a list of all of their PTD appointments. You can then access the information that is held for each of their PTDs.
I have not provided details of each Insolvency Practitioner’s PTD appointments as, in accordance with Section 25(1) of FOISA, this information can be reasonably obtained in the public Register.
Additional information on PTDs and statistics, that you may find useful, is available on the Accountant in Bankruptcy’s website, via the following links:
https://www.aib.gov.uk/protected-trust-deed
https://www.aib.gov.uk/about/statistics-data
https://www.aib.gov.uk/guidance/information-management/aib-information-disclosure-log
This includes information on average monthly payments, average fees relating to PTDs and the average debt levels for PTDs.
The Accountant in Bankruptcy does retain a copy of each trust deed that has been protected and other supporting documents and forms pertaining to each PTD.
