Education Scotland budget expenditure: FOI release

Information requested
You asked for a breakdown of actual budget expenditure of Education Scotland from January 2018 to present by directorate (regional working, scrutiny, curriculum, professional learning and leadership, corporate services) and also for Core staff.
Response
The question asks for budgeted expenditure from January 2018 to October 2019. The time period spans three financial years and during that time Education Scotland’s organisational structure has changed significantly. Therefore it is not possible to make direct year on year comparisons.
For the first two financial years, staff costs were not delegated to directorates and were managed centrally. Therefore it is only possible to provide a split by directorate for non‑staff expenditure and staff expenditure as an organisational total.
From April 2019, a new organisational structure was implemented and staff costs were delegated to directorates so the split shows both staff and non-staff costs by directorate.
The attached spreadsheet provides expenditure information for the time frame requested.
