Statistical data concerning National and Skills for Work qualification entries: FOI release

The number of SQA Entries for each individual subject - for SCQF levels 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 (totalled) - for each individual school in each local authority for 2019. You requested that SQA National Qualifications and Skills for Work qualifications be included.

I enclose a copy of the information you requested in the format you asked for.

As requested these figures include SQA National Qualifications and Skills for Work. They do not include the wider range of awards available at many schools. The information is based on a pupil's main school (which may not always be the school which presented them for a qualification) taken from the September 2018 Pupil Census. Note that not all subjects are available at all SCQF Levels. This should be kept in mind, especially when comparing overall numbers of entries across different subjects.

It is important to consider the curriculum design of individual schools when interpreting the figures and when making any comparisons between schools.

The senior phase of secondary school is a three-year experience. The priority is to enable young people to secure a range of qualifications and achievements on leaving school. Choices regarding the curriculum design are taken at a local level to ensure that they can be tailored to specific needs, but every child in Scotland should have access to a broad range of subject choices, including college and work-based learning options. It should be noted that the figures provided here are not a measure of the choices available for young people in each school.
