Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) game 30th August: FOI release

Information requested

Who it was the requested the SPFL game on 30th August. Was the request made only by Celtic fc or was it jointly with the SPFL/SFA and could you have a copy of the request.

Response

I can confirm that Celtic approached the Scottish Government with proposals for a pilot event with limited numbers of spectators and the fixture on 30 August 2020 was initially suggested after dialogue with the SPFL and Celtic.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide the information you have requested in terms of the request because an exemptions under sections 33(1)(b), its disclosure under this Act would, or would be likely to, prejudice substantially the commercial interests of any person; and section 30(b)(ii), the free and frank exchange of views for the purposes of deliberation, of FOISA applies to that information.
