Information requested

From 1 September 2020 to present: Copies of emails sent to First Minister Nicola Sturgeon from members of the public regarding their concern/anger/unhappiness and/or similar at:

  • The announcement of the Referendums Bill in her Programme for Government 2020-21.
  • The Scottish Government’s decision to actively pursue another independence referendum but the email does not necessarily need to reference the Referendums Bill.

Response

For part one of your request, our searches have found that there is no correspondence that has been sent to the First Minister from members of the public expressing concern/ anger/unhappiness or similar at the announcement in the Programme for Government regarding publishing a draft referendum bill. This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested. For part two of your request, four items of correspondence are enclosed at Annex A. An exemption under section 38(1)(b) (Personal Information) applies to some of this information. The reasons why this exemption applies is explained in Annex B of this letter.
