Information requested
For the last 7 years or as long as your records allow the number of probationers each council has to take in Scotland under the Single Outcome Agreement with the Scottish Government.
Response
Attached is a copy of the information requested. This is a pdf document showing the breakdown by local authority and sector of the 1,806 probationers that are their baseline target funded through the general allocation expenditure (GAE) element of the Local Government Finance Settlement to local authorities. These numbers have been constant since the beginning of the Teacher Induction Scheme (TIS).
In addition to these 1,806, as part of the Local Government Settlement, the Scottish Government has an agreement with Local government that all local authorities will provide sufficient places for students requiring one within TIS. The additional 7 pdf documents provide details of the overall total allocation to local authorities for the scheme which includes the 1,806 baseline numbers. These document show figures by local authority and nationally, broken down by primary and secondary sectors. This information is based on figures at May or June of each year. They cover the cohorts 2014-15 to 2020-21.
