Equality Unit’s remit
The Equality Unit (which part of the Equality & Human Rights Division within the Directorate for Equality, Inclusion and Human Rights) provides expert input on equality matters to policy development across Scottish Government, which is informed by ongoing engagement with, and funding of, a wide range of specialist equality organisations and projects. Staff of the unit support Ministers and other Scottish Government officials to deliver the equality outcomes in the National Performance Framework, with the most relevant of these being ‘We respect, protect and fulfil human rights and live free from discrimination.’

Equality units budget
The Equality Unit sits within the Equality and Human Rights Division. The budget line which supports this work Promoting Equality and Human Rights is £32.2m in 2021-22. Further information on the budget can be found at Scottish Budget 2021 to 2022 - gov.scot (www.gov.scot)
