Covid-19 vaccination booster dose information: FOI release

Information requested

1. For people who have received a third dose or booster dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, will their third dose be recorded in their "NHS Scotland record of vaccination"?

2. Can individuals who have received a third dose of booster dose of a Covid-19 vaccine obtain a new "NHS Scotland record of vaccination" that shows the third dose of vaccine received and the date it was administered?

3. If the answer to question 2. is yes, does the new record of vaccination contain a 2D barcode/QR code for the third/booster dose?

4. If the answer to questions 1. and 2. is no, what step are the Scottish Government and NHS Scotland taking to ensure that people who have received a third/booster dose can access a certificate of their third/booster dose?

Response

As your questions are related I am providing two responses to these four questions.

1. For people who have received a third dose or booster dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, will their third dose be recorded in their "NHS Scotland record of vaccination"?

2. Can individuals who have received a third dose of booster dose of a Covid-19 vaccine obtain a new "NHS Scotland record of vaccination" that shows the third dose of vaccine received and the date it was administered?

The Scottish Government is committed to adding boosters to vaccine certificates for display in the app as soon as possible. The aim is for this to be available in December.

3. If the answer to question 2. is yes, does the new record of vaccination contain a 2D barcode/QR code for the third/booster dose?

4. If the answer to questions 1. and 2. is no, what step are the Scottish Government and NHS Scotland taking to ensure that people who have received a third/booster dose can access a certificate of their third/booster dose?

This work will need to progress to international standards on how to display booster information on vaccine certificates which only became available on Wednesday 18th November. In the meantime we would encourage everyone intending to travel to continue to check what is needed for entry into the country they are visiting.
