Communications with equality organisations regarding LGBT/equalities issues: FOI release

Information requested

All correspondence between the Scottish Government (including spads) and any representative of Stonewall Scotland, The Equality Network, Scottish Trans, LGBT Youth Scotland, The Equality and Human Rights Commission, and The Scottish Green Party between January 21, 2022 and January 27, 2022 concerning any issue related in any way to plans to reform the gender recognition act or LGBT/equalities issues.

All correspondences including, but not be exclusive to, discussions around Cabinet Secretary, Shona Robison's meeting with the EHRC on January 21 and its change in position on GRA reform, any update to other groups based on what happened at the meeting, and any discussion over public responses to be issued by the SG/the other organisations in response to the EHRC's updated position.

All written correspondence and any records of phone calls/video calls or meetings held.

I attach a copy of most of the information you requested.

An exemption under section s.38(1)(b) of FOISA applies to some of the information you have requested. This exemption applies to personal information including names, job titles and contact details.

This exemption is subject to the 'public interest test'. Therefore, taking account of all the circumstances of this case, we have considered if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption. We have found that, on balance, the public interest lies in favour of upholding the exemption.
