Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
Information requested
The Scottish Government has recently stated in press releases that it has spent £53.5 million on tackling homelessness between 2018 to date. I would like to request a financial breakdown of what this money has actually been spent on to help eradicate homelessness in Scotland.
Response
I attach a copy of all of the information you requested.
The majority of funding local authorities receive for tackling homelessness is provided through the annual local government financial settlement. Our multi-year Ending Homelessness Together fund of £100 million between 2018/19 and 2025/26 is transformational funding associated with delivery of our homelessness strategy, Ending Homelessness Together.
To date, we have committed £53.5 million to local authorities to support the development and implementation of local authority rapid rehousing transition plans (RRTPs). Funding is provided for local authorities to support identified priorities in their area. This funding included investment of up to £6.5 million for the Housing First Pathfinder Programme to support people with multiple and complex needs. Finalised funding returns in February 2022 confirm that Scottish Government’s total investment in the Housing First Pathfinder Programme was £5.5 million. The funding that has not been allocated to
date will be used to support delivery of outstanding commitments in the Ending Homelessness Together action plan.
I attach a copy of the funding which has been allocated to local authorities to 31 March 2023 in the enclosed Annex totals £44,547,782. The allocation of the remaining £8 million funding for RRTP implementation between 1 April 2023 and 31 March 2024 will be provided to local authorities in the autumn of 2022.
