Ministerial vehicle use statistics: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002


Information requested

1. The total number of ministerial vehicles used for official business by Scottish Government ministers.

2. The age of the total number of vehicles, broken down by year of manufacture.

3. Information relating to the number of cars which are compliant with the requirements set out in the Transport Scotland Low Emission Zones Scotland document, in order to be compliant with emissions requirements.

4. Confirmation as to whether ministerial cars will be made exempt from penalty charges related to the operation of a Low Emission Zone in any one of the currently confirmed areas (Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow).

All Government Car Service (GCS) vehicles are compliant with low emission requirements, as set out in The Low Emission Zones (Scotland) Regulations 2021.

Local authorities are responsible for the enforcement of low emission zones (LEZ), with exemptions applied through the LEZ Regulations passed by the Scottish Government.

Under these regulations there are no exemptions for GCS vehicles.
