Energy Workers Questionnaire response numbers: FOI release

Information requested

Information on a survey that was carried out during August, as part of engagement for the Energy Strategy and Just Transition Plans. They were as follows:

1. How many respondents there were to the Energy Workers questionnaire?

2. A numerical breakdown of responses to questions 15, 16, 17 and 33 (x disagree, y slightly agree, etc).

3. Any responses submitted to questions 29 and 34.

Response

We intend to publish the survey results in full later this year. However, I attach some of the information you requested, below:

1. Number of respondents
In total we had 926 Reponses. However, 40 of the responses appeared to be from people who neither worked in Scotland's energy sector or lived in Scotland.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide the further information you have requested because exemptions under sections 27(1) (information intended for future publication) and 29(1) (a) (Formulation/Development of future government policy), of FOISA apply. The reasons why those exemptions apply are explained in the Annex to this letter.

Exemption 27(1) relates to the information requested being intended for future publication. In this case the information you have requested needs to undergo further analysis before publication later this year, alongside the Energy Strategy and Just Transition Plan.

Exemption 29 (1) (a) relates to the information requested being integral to the formulation/development of future government policy. The results/responses of the survey questions you have asked for will play a key role in the formulation and development of Scottish Government policy regarding Scotland’s energy requirements and achieving a just transition to net zero.
