Information requested
How many women who were killed by their partner or ex-partner were killed by men?
Response
The Homicide in Scotland 2021-22 national statistics state that there were 16 female victims of homicide in 2021-22 and that of these 16 female victims – 9 were killed by a partner or ex-partner. All 9 of these partners or ex-partners were male.
The statistics also report that over the 10 years from 2012-13 to 2021-22 there were 150 recorded female homicide victims. For 148 of these victims, the associated case was solved and an accused person was identified. Of these 148 victims of solved cases, 62 were killed by a partner or ex-partner.
That partner or ex-partner was male for 61 out of 62 of those victims.
