Details of loans made to Scottish football clubs: FOI review

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

Loans made to Scottish football clubs from the Scottish Government and its agencies in the last five years.

Response

I have concluded that a different decision should be substituted.

You were previously advised that some of the information you had requested was withheld because an exemption under section 33(1)(b) of FOISA applies to that information. I have concluded that the information previously withheld under Section 33(1)(b) should be released. The withheld information related to the question which asked "When it is due to be paid back or if it has been paid back".

The original response stated that "The credit facility agreement specifies that the total amount borrowed is to be repaid in equal instalments starting on the 1st of September 2022, and ending on the 1st of August 2042" and advised that we have the right to renegotiate the loan agreement. I can confirm that, following such negotiation, we have agreed with one club an extended final repayment date of 1st September 2049.
