Information requested
- How many Scottish Government members of staff have been suspended on full pay in the last 5 years?
- Please state the year in which they were suspended, length of time each staff member has been suspended, if this is not possible, please break them down by those suspended for a year or more, three months or more or one month or more.
- For each, can you please provide their annual salary. If this is not possible, please provide the salary range/ band along with details of pay grades within the band.
Response
In your request, you asked for information about members of staff. Our response therefore covers Scottish Government staff employed in the core directorates (see Annex A for details).
You have asked for information about the number of staff suspended on full pay in the last 5 years. Suspension is only used in very exceptional circumstances and in line with the ACAS guidance. The need to suspend a member of staff is kept under regular review.
As at 8 June 2023, there were 11 staff members who had been suspended on full pay in the last 5 years:
