Accidents on Actively Managed Hard Shoulder (AMHS) bus lanes: FOI release

Information requested

  1. Can you tell me how many accidents/incidents there have been on the Actively Managed Hard Shoulder (AMHS) bus lanes on the M90/M9 Queensferry Crossing corridor and on the M8 between Claylands and Hermiston Gate since the introduction of the scheme?
  2. Can you tell me how many injuries/fatalities have resulted from accidents on this stretch where the actively managed bus lane is operable?
  3. How many objections/complaints has the department received about the operation of this hard shoulder scheme?

Response

  1. There has been 1 accident which occurred on the section of AMHS for buses between Humbie Rail Bridge on the M90, through Junction 1a of the M9 to Junction 1 at Newbridge.
  2. This accident resulted in 1 casualty.
  3. Transport Scotland has not received any objections / complaints in relation to the operation of the AMHS for Buses.
