How much of the £25 million pledged to the Rural Housing Fund has been spent to this day, with a breakdown of where and how this money has been spent, as well as how much of the £5 million Islands Housing Fund has been spent to this day, with a breakdown of where and how this money has been spent?

Response

The Rural and Island Housing Funds were launched in 2016-17, initially for three years, then extended to five years (to March 2021). In November 2020, the Scottish Government announced the continuation of the Rural and Islands Housing Fund (RIHF) beyond March 2021 as part of its Affordable Housing Supply Programme. Up to £30m is being made available in the current Parliamentary term to support this demand led scheme.

The table attached provides a breakdown of spend by local authority area and by rural (mainland) and island area from 2016-17 to July 2023. The Fund is a contribution towards the construction, renovation or conversion of non-residential buildings capital costs - this can include the total cost of acquiring land or property, construction costs, professional fees and non-recoverable VAT.
