Regeneration Capital Grant Fund: FOI release

Information requested

You asked for the following information from the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund: “Cost breakdown of any Capital Grant Funds given to Earth in Common, Leith between 2017-2003 to refurbish an old tennis pavilion at the community croft and allotments at Earth in Common, Leith Community Croft, 4a John's Place, Leith, Edinburgh, EH6 7EL. Please also provide the names of the contractors involved in the refurbishment works. Please provide the information in the form of a full cost breakdown in excel format.

We subsequently asked you to confirm the funding period covered by your request to enable us to clarify the fund and project relevant to your request, as the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund (RCGF) was not introduced until 2014. You helpfully confirmed by email to us on 11 August 2023 that the period covered by your request is 2017-2023, thereby enabling us to now reply.

Response

The RCGF project which your request relates to is the ‘Nourishing Leith Hub’. The City of Edinburgh Council lead on the delivery of this project and we can confirm that since 2021, RCGF has awarded £1,230,617 to the Council in support of this project.

We can confirm that the Scottish Government has not paid any grant to Earth in Common in relation to the project and no cost breakdown is therefore available.

We can also advise that our understanding is that the main contractor involved in the refurbishment works for this project is Ashwood Scotland Ltd.

If you have further questions in relation to grant payments for specific organisations involved in the delivery of the project these may be better directed to City of Edinburgh Council who oversee the management of the project including disbursement of the funds.
