Information requested

How much money was the Scottish Government able to recover? This was in relation to the £19,141 worth of purchases made using Scottish Government credit cards between 1st September 2019 and 31st August 2022 which were marked as fraudulent.

Response

The answer to your question is the full amount was recovered and refunded by the bank to the cardholders new credit card.

On confirmation of the fraud transactions, the card is stopped and a replacement/new card is issued.

If there are genuine transaction on the card at time of the stopping these transactions are moved over to the new card and if transactions have already been cleared by the direct debt, the refund for the fraud transaction is credited to the replacement/new card.
