Response

The answer to your questions are;
1. The funding for this study is met from within the Scottish Government’s annual core grant offer to Centre for Excellence for Children’s Care and Protection (CELCIS) of £4,136,827 for 2023-24.

The funding provided to CELCIS outlines the Scottish Government’s commitment to the delivery of work aimed at improving the lives of children and young people in need of care and protection across Scotland. CELCIS received no additional funding for this study which was delivered within the planned Scottish Government funding.

2. No. No Scottish Government staff were involved in this study and to ensure independence from SG an Independent Steering Group chaired by Professor Brigid Daniel, Professor Emerita at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, has supported the design, implementation and delivery of this research study.

The Independent Steering Group remit has been to provide independent support and oversight to the research team, and to ensure the research is robust and will provide the best possible evidence. You can find more information about the Independent Steering Group here:
