Menopause training for healthcare professionals: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

You asked the Scottish Government how it has supported NES in providing healthcare professionals working in primary care with specialist menopause training in line with the aims of the Women’s Health Plan.

Response

The answer to your question is that the Scottish Government has supported NHS Education for Scotland (NES) by providing £50,000 in financial year 2023/24 to fund the creation of a bespoke training package and framework on menopause and menstrual health for general practice and others working in Primary Care.

Quarterly meetings are held between Scottish Government Women’s Health Plan Team and NES to support the development and delivery of this training package.

In addition, a representative from NES sits on the Women’s Health Plan Implementation Programme Board, the decision-making body responsible for the delivery of the Women’s Health Plan programme. The list of the Board’s membership can be found here: Women’s Health Plan Implementation Programme Board - gov.scot (www.gov.scot).
