Additional Funding

The following additional funding was provided by Scottish Government for the Screen Sector and administered by Screen Scotland.

Covid-19 Pandemic Funding:

Independent Cinema Recovery and Resilience Fund (September 2020 – March 2021) - £3.5 million.

  • The Independent Cinema Recovery and Resilience Fund bridged the immediate financial gap faced by independently owned cinemas during reopening and operation in the shortterm.

The Recovery Fund for Independent Cinemas (February 2022 - March 2022) - £2.5 million.

  • The Recovery Fund for Independent Cinemas addressed the impacts and changes to the film exhibition sector caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

2020/21:

  • £7.9m in Capital Funding for the Kelvin Hall studio development in Glasgow
  • £234,000 for Screen Studio Projects
  • £166.5k for the National Transition Training Fund – Screen New Entrants Training Scheme (NETS) Changing Lanes

2021/22:

  • £190,000 for the Montrose Playhouse Project
  • £259,190 for the National Transition Training Fund – RESET Internship and Training Programme
