Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

How many patients are treated for complications on the NHS after returning from foreign trips for cosmetic surgery, particularly in the NHSGGC area.

Response

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not collect this data, and only holds some email exchanges that discuss concerns over a number of complications during a specific period (see details at Annex A).

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the full information you have requested.

However, you may wish to contact the NHS Boards who may be able to help you. FOI contact details are on individual NHS Board websites.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information contained in Annex A because exemptions under S.30(b)(ii) (free and frank exchange of views) and S.38(1)(b) (personal information) of FOISA applies to that information. The reasons why these exemptions apply are explained in Annex B.
