The following information regarding the work of the previous chairperson of the National Appeals Panel and the recruitment of their replacement:

1. The remuneration paid to J M D Graham for provision of services as Chair to the National Appeal Panel for the periods:

• 1st October 2021 to 30th September 2022
• 1st October 2020 to 30th September 2021: £19,987.68

2. Details of where the job advertisement for the position has been placed.

3. Dates of when the job advertisement for the position of chair was placed and for what period.

4. How many applicants have applied for the post.

5. The salary offered for this position.

I enclose a copy of all of the information you requested and I have listed our response to each question below.

1. The previous chair of the NAP submitted invoices for payment for their work across the dates you have requested as follows. It is important to highlight that the payments made for the requested timeframes may also have included charging for work undertaken prior to that period, as invoices were submitted on an infrequent basis over the course of these timelines.

• 1st October 2021 to 30th September 2022: £28,922.00
• 1st October 2020 to 30th September 2021: £19,987.68

2. The most recent advertisement for the chairperson of the NAP was placed on both the Scottish Government’s internal and external recruitment pages.

3. The advertisement was live on these pages from Tuesday 7 November to Tuesday 5 December 2023.

4. There was one applicant for the post.

5. The salary offered was £554.92 per day.
