Response
How many IHR police officers are waiting on their RSS (Remedy statement) who were retired from Police Scotland due to ill health before 1 October 2023?
The total number of police officers who retired from Police Scotland on ill health grounds before 1st October 2023 and will receive a Remediable Service Statement (RSS) is 636 members. None of these members have yet been issued with an RSS.
Is the SPPA on track to deliver all IHR in this group their RSS before 31 March 2024 as per your own guidance and time table?
The SPPA is planning to contact the majority of members who retired due to ill health by 31st March 2024. However, the SPPA does not expect to issue all RSSs by 31 March 2024. This is because in many cases, there are other factors outside of SPPA control which will influence the SPPA’s ability to issue an RSS.
Where applicable, the RSS can only be issued once the member has received the initial contact and returned their response regarding re-assessment. If members elect to be re-assessed, their re assessment needs to be completed and once the re-assessment certificate has been received, the RSS can be generated and issued.
We are aware of how important it is to issue these RSSs and are doing so as a matter of urgency.
