Information requested
Using Freedom of Information laws, could you please answer the following questions:
1. In the 25 years since the Scottish Parliament was reconvened how many government ministers and/or cabinet secretaries (including first ministers and deputy first ministers) have ever lost their work-related mobile phone?
2. In the 25 years since the Scottish Parliament was reconvened how many government ministers and/or cabinet secretaries (including first ministers and deputy first ministers) have had their work-related mobile phone stolen?
Response
1. One Scottish Government-issued mobile phone has been reported as lost (in the year 2010) by a Scottish Government Minister.
2. There have been no reports of a Minister having had a Scottish Government-issued mobile phone stolen in the period 2009 to date.
It should be noted that there are no records available prior to 2009 or during the period from 2015 to 2016. The records that are available only relate to work-related mobile phones issued by the Scottish Government, and not to work-related mobile phones issued by the Scottish Parliament.
This response is based on data held on the Scottish Government Security Incident Reporting system. Any loss or theft should be reported through this security incident reporting system. Individual business areas are responsible for purchasing and allocating mobile phones.
