Policy on deletion of WhatsApp messages: FOI release

Information requested

1. A copy of Scottish Government policy as at 2007, when Mr Salmond became First Minister, and which explained the process and procedure to be followed around transferring salient points of messages relating to government business from such as WhatsApp messages [and including any other similar apps] on mobile phones used by Ministers before deleting such messages from the phones.

2. Who signed-off the policy and when – a PDF of the relevant page of the document will suffice?

3. Who was designated as responsible for checking that the policy was being complied with and any reports produced which indicated compliance issues?

4. A list of all ministers at that time who individually acknowledged the policy and undertook to comply.

5. A copy of the same policy as at 2014 when Ms Sturgeon became First Minister, and which explained the process and procedure to be followed around transferring salient points of messages relating to government business from such as WhatsApp messages [and including any other similar apps] on mobile phones used by Ministers before deleting such messages from the phones.

6. Who signed-off the policy and when – a PDF of the relevant page of the document will suffice?

7. Who was designated as responsible for checking that the policy was being complied with and any reports produced which indicated compliance issues?

8. A list of all Ministers at that time who individually acknowledged the policy and undertook to comply.

9. Any updated versions of the policy signed-off and issued since 2014, including any reports on compliance issues.
