Information requested

Information on the decision by the Drug Policy Unit to halve the funding to the Drug Research Network Scotland.

I enclose a copy of some of the information you requested.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested as detailed below.

1. Please confirm the the DPU was responsible for this decision: The Minister is responsible for making decisions. She was provided with advice by DPU colleagues.

2. Please provide any notes minutes or correspondence or evidence related to the decision to halve the funding of the DRNS: Copies are in the attached documents.

An exemption(s) under section(s) s.30(b), s.20(1)(a) and s.38(1)(b) of FOISA applies to some of the information you have requested and is redacted in the attached documents.

Section 30(b) applies to free and frank provision of advice and applies to advice provided to the Minister for Drugs Policy by officials. Section 20(1)(a) applies to formulation or development of Scottish Government policy and applies to advice provided to the Minister for Drugs Policy by officials. Section 38(1)(b) applies to personal data relating to a third party and applies to names, email addresses and other personal data.

3. Please provide a list of those consulted in reaching this decision: There is no formal note of consultees on record.
