Response
I would advise you that the Fire Service Inspectorate does not have an organisational structure that involves a ‘Chief Executive and Directors’. The Inspectorate comprises a small team and is led by a Chief Inspector.
Our response to the questions is given below and relates only to the Chief Inspector as our broad equivalent to a Chief Executive.
1. Details of the salary and rewards package paid to the Chief Executive and Directors of your organisation?
The salary and rewards package of the Chief Inspector is currently £95,000 - £99,999 per annum.*
2. Details of the amount paid to each in expenses over each of the last 5 years - please what these were paid for.
The Chief Inspector is subject to the rules applied to civil servants in respect of expenses incurred in the normal performance of business. Such expenses are not necessarily paid to the Chief Inspector. Expenses might relate to accommodation, subsistence, rail fares, car hire and other travel costs. Expenses can either be repaid to the individual on production of a relevant receipt, or can be paid to the service provider directly, or indirectly through a travel agent. The finances of HM Fire Service Inspectorate falls within the rules and is principally administered by the Scottish Government in its capacity as an employer. Accordingly, we do not hold sufficient information to enable us to give you the requested information for question 2.
3. Details of the amount collectively paid in by your organisation to the pension pots of these senior officers in each of the last five years.
There can be an employer’s contribution where a person is a member of the civil service pension scheme. The employers contribution in respect of the Chief Inspector for the last 5 years is £26,899.
*In line with Cabinet Office guidance, as set out in the Government Financial Reporting Manual, we apply the normal convention for reporting the personal salary information of officials by providing the information in £5k salary bands.
