Information requested

1. What are the Compulsory Retirement Ages (CRA) applied by SPPA on Police Scotland officers of Constable and Sergeant rank who have membership benefits accrued from the 1987 legacy police pension scheme?

2. What are the Compulsory Retirement Ages (CRA) applied by Police Scotland to those officers of Inspecting rank who have membership benefits accrued in the 1987 legacy police pension scheme?

3. What are the current compulsory retirement ages (CRA) applied to Police Scotland officers specifically under ill health retirement regulations of the 1987 police pension scheme for Constables & Sergeants who are being ill health retired when calculating their benefits & enhancement in accordance with the regulations?

4. What are the current compulsory retirement ages (CRA) applied to police Scotland officers specifically under the ill health retirement regulations of the 1987 police pension scheme for officers of Inspector rank who are being ill health retired when calculating their benefit’s & appropriate enhancement in accordance with the regulations?

Response

1. Compulsory Retirement Ages (CRA) ended in the Police Pension schemes on 1 April 2022. Therefore CRA has not been applied from this date, per regulation changes. 2. Please see answer to question 1.

3. Per above, there are no longer Compulsory Retirement Ages, however enhancements, irrespective of rank, as they pertain to the Police 1987 scheme, can be applied (please see table below).

30 years whichever one they would reach first
