Meetings between Scottish Government and Progress Scotland: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

From 1st January 2019 - date, please provide all correspondence and notes/minutes of meetings between the Scottish Government and representatives of Progress Scotland (including, but not limited to: Angus Robertson, Mark Diffley, and Peter Dempsie).

Response

I enclose a copy of some of the information you requested. On correspondence and notes/minutes of meetings involving the individuals mentioned referring to Progress Scotland, the attached PDF document contains correspondence between Mark Diffley and Scottish Government officials which has been redacted to remove personal information.

Angus Robertson has recorded his interest in Progress Scotland in the public domain here: Interests by minister - List of ministers' interests - gov.scot (www.gov.scot).

Progress Scotland's website only identifies Angus Robertson as a member of the organisation. No records of correspondence and notes/minutes of meetings with Peter Dempsie as a representative of Progress Scotland are held.

I would also like to draw your attention to a previous FOI in the public domain on a similar topic.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, for correspondence and notes/minutes of meetings between the Scottish Government and Angus Robertson, Mark Diffley and Peter Dempsie regardless of the subject matter, in this instance the costs of locating, retrieving and providing the information requested would exceed the upper cost limit of £600, because a large number of documents are potentially within scope. Under section 12 of FOISA public authorities are not required to comply with a request for information if the authority estimates that the cost of complying would exceed the upper cost limit, which is currently set at £600 by Regulations made under section 12.

You may, however, wish to consider reducing the scope of your request in order that the costs can be brought below £600, by specifying the individual and subject or business area in which you are interested. You may also find it helpful to look at the Scottish Information Commissioner's 'Tips for requesting information under FOI and the EIRs' on his website at: http://www.itspublicknowledge.info/YourRights/Tipsforrequesters.aspx.
