Information requested

1. The number of familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) panel tests undertaken in Scotland by year in 2022, 2023 and to date in 2024.

2. The genes tested for in the HCM panel and which laboratory in Scotland performs these tests.

1. The number of familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) panel tests undertaken in Scotland by year in 2022, 2023 and to date in 2024.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested.

I can confirm that 280 HCM panel tests were performed by the genomics lab in Edinburgh in 2023. The Scottish Government does not hold information on numbers of HCM panel tests performed in 2022 or to date in 2024. However, you may wish to contact NHS Lothian who may be able to help you further.

Therefore under section 17(1) of FOISA, I am required to notify you that this information is not held by the Scottish Government.

2. The genes tested for in the HCM panel and which laboratory in Scotland performs these tests

All of the information you have requested is available within the Scottish Rare and Inherited Diseases Test Directory. See page 66 of the document for the list of gene targets in the HCM panel and the centre where this test is performed in Scotland.
