Can you please advise how many student flats and social homes for rent have been built in the last three years. Not affordable homes, social housing for Rent.

Response

Under Section 17(1) our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested. The Scottish Government does not hold information on the number of student flats built in Scotland.

You also asked how many social homes have been built in the last three years. Between January 2021 and December 2023 a total of 22,141 homes for social rent were delivered in Scotland and of those 18,867 homes were new build social rent.

The Scottish Government publishes quarterly data on the progress of the Affordable Housing Supply Programme. This data includes the number homes approved, started and completed split by build form and tenure.
