Information requested
In FOI/202300382289 - published here - https://www.gov.scot/publications/foi-202300382289/ - there are several references to the use of AI - specifically ChatGPT.
Please provide me the results of the use of ChatGPT listed in the document released under that FOI. For example, for the Communications and Ministerial directorate, where ChatGPT is listed as a "type of AI" used, please provide me with any output from that AI retained on the government record, for the "application" listed in that FOI response. From the FOI response, this should return up to four different outputs from ChatGPT used by the Scottish Government.
Response
Colleagues from Corporate Transformation and External Affairs teams have both confirmed that no outputs have been added to the corporate record following their use of ChatGPT as referenced in the previous FOI response.
Communications colleagues have shared information around the Brand Scotland and Strategy and Insight use cases. Please see the responses below and supporting attachments.
Brand Scotland team response
Please find attached (Brand Scotland team response) two draft slides from July 2023 which are a reference to how they used AI – specifically ChatGPT.
Neither outputs were utilised for finished or published documents and were used as a secondary research tool for discussion purposes – reviewing general perceptions of Scotland and our strengths in renewables as a example.
Strategy and Insight team response
The attached document (Strategy and Insight team response) is a synthesis of outputs that were used to inform, alongside desk research and existing knowledge, a discussion guide used in breakout sessions at a Transport Scotland workshop in December 2023, covering the safety of women and girls on public transport. None of the suggestions were explicitly presented to respondents – they were only used to inform our thinking in creating the guide, as a sense check in effect.
