Scottish Ministerial Device Handover: FOI release

Information requested

1) Whether the Scottish Government devices of George Adam, Emma Roddick, Patrick Harvie and Lorna Slater were all handed in following their departure from the Scottish Government.

2) What will happen to the emails/WhatsApp/Instant/Text messages that were stored on those devices. For example, will they be stored on the government’s central corporate record or if the messages will be destroyed. If these messages will be stored on the corporate record, please provide them in this response.

3) The cost of these devices which each minister has had to hand in.

Response

1) Yes all Scottish Government devices for Joe FitzPatrick, George Adam, Emma Roddick, Patrick Harvie and Lorna Slater were handed into the Scottish Government following their departure.

2) In line with the Scottish Government records management policy, any emails/WhatsApp/Instant/Text Messages containing key conversations and decisions are stored on the Scottish Government's central corporate record as appropriate.

3) The costs of these devices for each Minister are as below, please note that devices are repurposed and reissued to users by the Scottish Government as required.
