British Sign Language videos on the Scottish Government website: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

How many videos are available in British Sign Language on the following websites: www.gov.scot/health‐and‐social‐care

Response

The Scottish Government host most videos on YouTube and either link to these from gov.scot or, where appropriate, embed videos onto specific web pages.  In answering this question, we have included all instances where we have either linked to or embedded videos that feature British Sign Language.

You asked us about videos available from www.gov.scot/health-and-social-care.  This is a specific page on gov.scot, rather than being a website itself, so we have interpreted your question as meaning all videos available on gov.scot more generally.

On that basis, we have conducted a search of gov.scot pages and found:

  • 84 links to BSL videos
  • 174 links to videos of speeches that feature a BSL interpreter
