Action plan for NHS Boards accessing medical locum support: FOI release

Information requested
The action plan designed to ensure that NHS Boards are securing best value whenever they access medical locum support, along with any correspondence and covering letters sent to boards regarding the plan.
Response
I enclose a copy of the information you requested. Exemptions under section 38(1)(b) have been applied to some of the information, due to some of the documents containing personal information.
I have also enclosed a copy of the Medical Workforce Sustainability Group final report, for your awareness. This group met throughout 2023 to consider the range of actions required to ensure the adequate supply of medical staff across NHS Scotland. Ensuring such a supply of substantive medical practitioners is key to reducing the system’s reliance on medical locums.
